About AASC

The annual AASC State Convention is a wonderful opportunity for students and advisors alike to get energized by hearing inspiring speakers, participating in workshops that sharpen their skills, networking with other leaders across Arizona, and, of course, having lots of fun!

The Arizona Association of Student Councils was founded in 1934 by a group of educators who wanted to create an organization for student leaders that would encourage them to practice the democratic process, citizenship and service while fostering idea exchange and problem solving in the state's schools.

Today, more than seven decades later, AASC serves thousands of students and advisors from member schools all across the Grand Canyon State. Our organization is affiliated with the National Association of Student Councils (NASC), and we offer leadership training experiences for our members throughout the year. Some of these opportunities for leadership and character development include:

  • Fall Leadership/Spirit Conferences
  • President/Advisor Luncheons
  • Annual State Convention
  • Advisor Training Sessions
  • Annual attendance at the NASC National Conference
  • Summer Leadership Camp
  • Membership Networking Opportunities

Each year we present a number of awards to honor our members, including the Outstanding Advisor of the Year Award, Council of Distinction Awards, Outstanding Council of Distinction Awards, and AASC Leadership Scholarships.
